Prioritising Child Safety
At Alvanley and Manley Village School, the safety and well-being of every child are at the heart of everything we do. We nurture an open, trusting, and child-centred environment, supported by a curriculum designed to teach children how to protect themselves.

Personal Development & Safety Education
Alongside our core PSHE lessons, we enrich learning through practical assemblies and targeted activities. Throughout the year, we cover key safety themes including anti-bullying, NSPCC and Childline initiatives, online safety, road and site safety, seasonal advice (Bonfire Night & Halloween), stranger awareness, and positive conduct.
Behaviour & Anti-Bullying Policies
To ensure children feel secure at all times, we maintain robust Behaviour and Anti-Bullying policies. We regularly review child-friendly versions of these policies in class, which you can also access below to reinforce these important principles at home.
Safety Outside of School
Our curriculum provides the opportunity to develop understanding and skills that will ensure their safety outside of school. Our pupils learn key safety skills from their first days in school, and develop the below skills throughout their time with us:
Road and traffic safety: how to navigate pavements and crossing the road, through daily practice and during school trips
Safe eating: how to maintain safe eating practices, such as using cutlery and safer eating positions
Fire and Lockdown drills: how to respond and react to any sign of an emergency, such as fire alarms and lockdown drills
Personal safety: including safe, trusted adults inside and outside of school, appropriate boundaries and speaking up when feeling uncomfortable
Family Support Worker: If you or your family require guidance regarding finances, safety at home and family relationships, please ask someone in school for access to our Family Support Worker. Our Family Support worker can offer support in home, in school or via the phone throughout the year, including school holidays.
